What's so special about our Endive?

Some Endive varieties are best grown in spring or summer. This one is perfect for the fall.

This Endive grows slowly and can handle harsh weather or cold. It produces large heads with a light yellow heart.

Sowing and growing Endive

Growing endive is simple: put a few seeds in a hole and keep the soil mix moist. After they come up, thin out the seedlings and leave just 1 plant per hole. Four plants fit in one square patch.

Watch out for snails: they like to eat young Endive plants.

Always water the base of the plant, never the leaves. Dense Endive heads collect water, which means they can get mouldy or rot.

Step-by-step sowing and growing instructions for Endive are in the Planty Garden app.

What do you use Endive for?

Endive leaves are nice and spicy. Young leaves are delicious raw in salads, or mashed up with cheese or bacon. You can also roast Endive if you like (just not for too long!).
